Air Conditioner

See below for several steps on getting the AC unit to work:

  1. Wont Turn On

    1. Thermostat settings correct?
      1. It’s set to AC?
      2. FAN set to auto
      3. Temp gauge set to desired temp?
    2. Blown Fuse – Controls thermostat
      1. The fuse to the thermostat may be blown. Check by turning on the heat. If the heat turns on then you know the thermostat is working.
    3. Thermostat have power?
      1. The thermostat gets power from the 12 volt dc battery. If the lights wont work then you probably don’t have power to the thermostat as well. To get power you will need to have shore power, a generator or be plugged into a running vehicle.
    4. Air conditioner have power?
      1. The air conditioner needs 120 volt ac power to operate properly. You get this power from the shore power or proper generator. Try the microwave, if it’s not working you don’t have 120 volt ac power.
      2. Check the breaker on the shoreline connection or on the generator itself.
      3. Make sure your not using a 120 adapter, this wont allow enough wattage through to power the ac unit.
    5. Breaker Tripped
      1. Check the breaker panel to see if the breaker needs to be reset. If you cant find the breaker that controls the air conditioner flip all of them. make sure to switch it all the way of then back on. If the breaker feels loose it didn’t reset properly.
  2. Wont stay on, no cold air or turned off

    1. Check above as a breaker may have tripped in the camper or on your power source.
    2. Check the air filter, it may need to be cleaned.
    3. Depending on the outdoor heat and humidity the transfer coils may have froze and need an hour or two to defrost.
    4. Make sure vent tha.ts directly on the ac unit itself is closed as its only meant to be on for the first 30 minutes of operation.
